This album is dedicated to my grandfather, released on what would have been his 90th birthday, RIP. It is also dedicated to my friends, and I hope they listen to it and report back to me to tell me they smirked despite their best efforts not to. That would make my day, for sure. Special shout out to Mike; I had showed him a track or two early on in the process and asked whether the sound clips were tastefully used or not. He replied something along the lines of "if you're going to make a (THE) lofi album with animal sounds, I don't think you should bother being subtle about it". That said, this album is for the 2-3 people who are into both lofi tracks and random animal sounds. If you're not really into either... yeah, this album may not be for you. At least it's short.
Oh yeah, this punk learned how to source his internet scouring. The following audio files were used by diligently and repeatedly Googling what Attribution 3.0 Unported means. Check it --> Mixed into track 2 under CC BY 3.0: "Ambience, Children Playing, Distant, A.wav" by InspectorJ (
www.jshaw.co.uk) of
Freesound.org. Mixed into track 5 under CC BY 3.0: "high school canteen.wav" by klankbeeld (
www.freesound.org/people/klankbeeld/). Mixed into track 7 under CC BY 3.0: "Ambience, Large Crowd, A.wav" by InspectorJ (
www.jshaw.co.uk) of
Freesound.org.
Technically the other clips don't "need" to be listed here, but it's kind of amazing that free resources like this exist online for creatives (or generally bored folk) to use. Having a low barrier of entry and free tools really makes the world feel more accessible, don't it? The following were (not) tastefully used under CC0: "Office Ambience.wav" by Dean-Raule_DiArchangeli. "Rooster.wav" by cclaretc. "cow scream" by gibarroule. "City Traffic (Outdoor).wav" by embracetheart. "dog barking" by Nielstii. "restaurant2.wav" by sagetyrtle. "Turkey - Gobble [3 thru 6] - 96kHz.wav" by JarredGibb. "Cat Wants Food" by Oneirophile. "Bar Crowd - Logans Pub - Feb 2007.wav" by lonemonk. "Sheep bleating" by zachrau. "Geese.wav" by Adam_N. "Vinyl Hiss.wav" by DanielsonIII.
In the spirit of all that, these tracks themselves are free to use, remix, etc. I mean, I don't know why you would want that, but the option is available. Either way, go make ridiculous music that doesn't exist yet. Cheers - Jason
